The first thing I need to tell you about in this article is that strep throat is not necessarily a sore throat. Although your throat might hurt if you have strep throat. It is common to not have any symptoms in the throat and instead to suffer from headaches, fatigue, irritation, etc.
Now, obviously strep throat is a bacterial infection, which means that in order to be able to treat it correctly, you need antibiotics. It is impossible to detect whether or not you have strep throat at your own home. What needs to happen is you need to go see a doctor, and then after a few tests, he will be able to tell you whether you have it or not.
Getting rid of strep throat without antibiotics is nearly impossible. If you do not want to take antibiotics, but you still want to feel better, then there is a few things you can do, and obviously I will list them here:
1. Lots of fluids. If you drink a lot of fluids it will clean up your throat a little bit and your tonsils which will then lead to you feeling much better. Again, this will not get rid of the infection, but it will make you feel better for short while.
2. Another thing you can do, is try to eat a lot of soups. Again, it's all a matter of cleaning up your throat, and the getting rid of the mucus in your tonsils.
3. Sleep with your head elevated. Now this might be a little tricky. I don't know very many people who like to sleep with their head up, but this definately won't help and make you feel a bit better. What this does is make sure that the mucus doesn't collect in your throat, but instead it flows right down without making the infection bigger.
It is important for you to realize that even after many months of treatment with medications, strep throat might not go away. In some cases the only thing he can do to really make sure that the infection is gone, is removing your tonsils.
Some people are afraid of having their tonsils removed, as their tonsils are part of their immune system. That's true, they are part of your immune system, but you need to know that ever since you turned three or four, your immune system became mature enough to be able to function properly even without their tonsils.
Additionally, studies have been done that show that if your tonsils are infected, they do not work anyway, so if you have a strep throat, all you have is a bunch of the mucus collected in the back of your nose and your throat. Trust me, it is much better to get rid of it as soon as you can.
The tips above will help you to make you feel better as well as get rid of your strep throat permanently. I hope you enjoyed this article, I will talk to you later.
